Key ideas
- Content policy: Choose Only what changed, Fill empty fields, Replace/all, or Off/design only instead of treating every field as a blind overwrite.
- Repeater policy: Lists can keep extra remote rows, replace the whole list, fill only an empty list, or be skipped.
- Previewed scope: Per-page/collection selection, layout policy, advanced toggles, and Check what will change expose touched/untouched work and warn when the comparison is blind.
Steps
- Open WordPress publishing and choose the pages/collections included in this release.
- Choose the content mode, repeater policy, and whether layout should be kept or rebuilt.
- Review advanced settings for skipping empty values, creating pages, setting the front page, and adding pages to the menu.
- Click Check what will change, inspect touched/untouched fields and any blind-warning state, then publish and verify the remote site.
Content modes
- Only what changed: send canvas values that differ from known remote values.
- Fill empty: preserve non-empty remote content.
- All/replace: send the full selected canvas scope.
- Off/design only: do not write content values.
Repeater and layout controls
- Keep extra rows preserves remote rows beyond the canvas list.
- Replace makes canvas rows the entire remote list.
- Only if empty writes rows only when the remote list is empty.
- Skip does not write repeater rows.
- Keep layout preserves remote structure where possible; rebuild opts into structural replacement.
Advanced toggles
- Skip empty values.
- Create pages.
- Set front page.
- Add created pages to a menu.
Limitations and important notes
- A blind plan means the live site could not be fully read; “Only what changed” cannot guarantee a precise comparison in that state.
- Replace-list and rebuild-layout are the most destructive choices; verify scope and back up the remote site first.
Troubleshooting
Remote repeater rows disappeared
Use Keep extra rows rather than Replace when WordPress contains rows not represented on the canvas.
