Exports inline critical CSS, optimize and pack images, and self-host fonts for fast first paint. Tips to keep your published site quick.
Where: Export pipeline — Before publishing
Key ideas
- Critical CSS: Above-the-fold CSS is inlined for faster first paint.
- Image packing: Images are optimized and may use srcset for responsive loading.
Steps
- Use optimized images.
- Keep heavy media streamed.
- Publish — critical CSS + font self-hosting are automatic.
What export optimizes automatically
- The static export pipeline inlines critical CSS for faster first paint and packages eligible images near their maximum rendered size without upscaling.
- Packable raster images are re-encoded to WebP; SVG and GIF are passed through, while animated formats are preserved rather than flattened.
- Self-hosted fonts and responsive image output are export behaviors—not a substitute for choosing appropriately sized source assets.
Keep the page light before publishing
- Use images near the actual display size and avoid unnecessarily large hero assets.
- Prefer streaming/hosted media for heavy video rather than embedding large payloads in the initial page.
- After export, review the target page on a slower connection and check that important above-the-fold content appears promptly.
Tips
- A failed or inaccessible image may remain an external URL in the export; check browser/network errors when a packed asset is missing.
Limitations and important notes
- Data/blob URLs and individual assets that fail download/decode are not packed; SVG/GIF are intentionally passed through.
