Create named milestones and restore automatic or named checkpoints from the website/video editor project menu, including the same native backup UI inside a full editor-backed Flowgen document.
Where: Editor → project menu → Add a backup / Restore from backup — Protect or recover the current editor document
Before you start
- You need access to the project card and at least one stored backup.
Key ideas
- Named milestone: Add a backup captures the current editable document with a label so a risky change has an intentional return point.
- Automatic checkpoints: The editor periodically saves automatic backups after changes; the restore list distinguishes named and automatic entries.
- Document scope: Inside a full Document Editor/Video document node, the native backup UI uses that node document’s backup stream. It is not the same as the node’s generated result history.
Steps
- Open the project menu and choose Add a backup before a risky edit.
- Give the milestone a short descriptive name and wait for confirmation.
- To recover, open Restore from backup and compare named/automatic entries by time.
- Select and confirm the intended checkpoint; allow the live document to reseed or reload.
- Verify pages/scenes, settings, timeline, assets, and current save state before continuing.
Use the dashboard for whole-project recovery
If the project cannot be opened or the entire Flowgen project must be replaced, use the dashboard project card’s Restore from backup path. The dedicated backup locations overview explains every scope.
Limitations and important notes
- Restoring replaces newer document state not present in the checkpoint.
- Do not restore while another collaborator is actively editing the same document.
Troubleshooting
The restored state reverts again or merges newer edits
Close other tabs/collaborators for the document before restoring, then reopen the single authoritative project tab and verify the save state.
