Distinguish editor backups, dashboard whole-project recovery, Flowgen canvas backups, and editor-backed node history so you restore the intended scope.

Key ideas
- Scope matters: A dashboard restore replaces the project document. An editor backup restores the open website/video document. A legacy Flowgen canvas backup targets one canvas flow, while the current dashboard path restores the whole Flowgen project document.
- Named and automatic checkpoints: Automatic checkpoints protect active work periodically; named backups mark an intentional milestone before a risky change.
- Generations are separate: A node’s generated result history is not the same as that editor-backed node’s document backup history. Selecting an output version and restoring an edited document solve different problems.
Steps
- Identify the damaged scope: one generated result, one editor document, one Flowgen canvas, or the entire project.
- Preserve the current state first with Download project file or a named backup when you may need to return to it.
- Open the matching restore surface and compare checkpoint name, type, and time.
- Restore the selected checkpoint and allow the app to reload or reseed the document.
- Verify pages/canvases, nodes, assets, settings, timeline, and downstream outputs before continuing work.

Limitations and important notes
- Restore is a replacement operation; newer edits outside the checkpoint can be lost.
- Do not restore while another collaborator is actively editing the same document.
- Trash recovery and conversion restore-to-dashboard are separate from backup restore.
Troubleshooting
The restored state looks unchanged
Close other project tabs and reopen the project so stale local document state does not mask the restored checkpoint.
