Attach a source video and the AI will analyze it — detecting scenes and speech — then assemble trimmed segments onto your timeline for you to refine.
Where: AI assistant (video project) → attach a source video — Attach a video and ask to cut it
Key ideas
- Analyze: Detects scene cuts and speech in the attached footage.
- Assemble: Lays trimmed segments onto the timeline as a rough cut.
Steps
- Attach a source video to the AI assistant.
- Ask it to cut/assemble the footage.
- Refine the resulting segments on the timeline.
Analysis and assembly are separate stages
- The assistant first analyzes the attached source for scene and speech structure; cuts are chosen from that analysis rather than guessed from the file name.
- It then selects and trims source ranges and adds clips to the current timeline. Review the inserted clips before treating the rough cut as final.
- Subject-aware framing can be stored per inserted clip and adjusted after assembly.
Review the rough cut
- Check cut points around speech, scene transitions, and important action; detection can miss fast edits or quiet dialogue.
- Confirm clip order, overlaps, gaps, and audio continuity in the timeline.
- Use normal timeline editing to refine or replace segments; requesting analysis does not make the result a locked final export.
Tips
- Describe the intended pacing and content to keep, and say whether speech, action, or chronological order should take priority.
Limitations and important notes
- Automated scene/speech analysis is a starting point; inspect source ranges and final timing before export.
Troubleshooting
The assembled clips do not match the intended subject or pacing.
Review the analyzed source ranges and framing, then adjust or replace the affected clips directly on the timeline.
