Understand Brain as your durable, user- and project-owned knowledge layer for personas, brand, business context, documents, datasets, and custom item types.

Key ideas
- Durable items: Brain items persist beyond one chat or run. They are the authoritative reusable context you own, rather than temporary prompt text or an AI conversation memory.
- Built-in and custom types: Persona, Brand, Business profile, Document, and Dataset are built-in starting schemas. You can override their fields for a scope and add custom item types for your own business process.
- Flow participation: Drag an item to the canvas or use Brain Read, Brain Write, Text Editor, and Knowledge Search to read, update, author, or retrieve relevant context inside a flow.
Steps
- Open Brain and choose the item type that matches the information you want to reuse.
- Create the item with a clear title and fill the fields that downstream work should rely on.
- Drag the item onto the canvas to create a bound read node, or add Knowledge Search when a query should select relevant context from many items.
- Connect only the resulting context needed by the generator, agent, or analysis node.
- Use Brain Write intentionally when a flow should archive the previous item version and replace its current content.
What belongs in Brain
- Persona: a role/system prompt used repeatedly.
- Brand: guidelines, design system, logo, mission, audience, tone, and emotions.
- Business profile: business name, industry, website, offer, customers, and goals.
- Document/brief: durable prose or instructions.
- Dataset: a report summary plus native structured rows.
- Custom item: a schema created for a repeatable business-specific knowledge object.
Brain is not chat memory
An assistant can use selected or retrieved Brain context, but an item does not automatically enter every conversation. Bind, drag, search, or attach the relevant item so the current task receives it.
Tips
- Keep one authoritative item for each reusable brand/persona truth instead of copying variants into many prompts.
- Use descriptive type and field names so Knowledge Search results remain understandable.
Limitations and important notes
- Access follows the item’s organization/project scope and the viewer’s permissions.
- Brain Write overwrites the current item after archiving the prior version; it is not an append-only note action.
