Start in Flowgen, open Designer presentation on the same canvas, distinguish Designer node documents from project modes, and find older standalone Designer projects without mistaking them for the current start path.
Where: Dashboard → New project → Flowgen or Designer; existing legacy work → Dashboard → project library.
Key ideas
- The current Designer start is Flowgen: Dashboard Designer creates a Flowgen/media-gen project and opens the Designer presentation. It does not create a new standalone Designer project type.
- Flow and Designer share the canvas: Both presentations use the same project graph, connected sources, and ownership. Switching presentation changes the view; it does not duplicate the project.
- A Designer node opens a document editor: Designer documents and their typed pages can be edited as owned Flowgen node content. This differs from the Flowgen canvas presentation itself.
- Legacy standalone projects remain: Older standalone Designer routes remain accessible for compatibility. New Dashboard Designer creation follows the Flowgen model.
Steps
- Choose Flowgen to open a connected canvas, or choose Designer to open that same project model in Designer presentation.
- Use the presentation switch to move between Flow and Designer views without changing the graph or project type.
- Open a Designer node only when you need its document/page editor; use Designer presentation for canvas-owned design navigation.
- Find existing work through Dashboard search and filters. Treat older standalone Designer items as compatibility projects, not the default new-work path.
- When an editor-backed artifact is linked or promoted, use its explicit source/pull controls; edits do not silently synchronize to another canvas node.
Flowgen entry choices
- Dashboard guided prompt → Flowgen project with a saved request.
- Build with AI → Agent conversation on an empty canvas.
- Eight visual starts → Slide deck, Ad, Brand images, Immersive webpage, Studio portraits, Animation & motion, Reel & video edit, or Design system.
- Start from a flow → Marketplace browsing for a reusable connected flow.
Designer page choices
- Slide deck → Deck page
- Ad → Ad page
- Brand images → Media page
- Immersive webpage → Landing page & website
- Studio portraits → Media page
- Animation & motion → Motion page
- Reel & video edit → Video page
- Design system → Design system page
- Other Designer page types can be chosen inside Designer after opening its editor.
Project lifecycle and collaboration
- Designer filter and clay accent distinguish the project type.
- The card route opens the current Designer project; old legacy records with no recognized type may still open the earlier external Designer.
- Roles determine whether a collaborator may edit, comment, share, organize, or delete.
- Project card actions, folders, Archive, Trash, Restore, and permanent deletion follow the shared dashboard lifecycle.
- A premium crown describes the type/action; entitlement and Sparks are checked when paid work runs.
Do not conflate these surfaces
- Dashboard Designer action → Flowgen project in Designer presentation.
- Flow presentation → connected node graph for the same Flowgen project.
- Designer node → editor-backed multi-page document inside Flowgen.
- Legacy standalone Designer → older project type kept available for existing work.
Advanced project lifecycle
- New Dashboard Designer creation is a Flowgen project in Designer presentation.
- Older standalone Designer records and routes remain available for compatibility; they are not the current creation path.
- Use a Designer node in Flowgen for a node-owned document, or deliberately promote a supported artifact only when independent ownership is needed.
Tips
- Keep Designer as a node while it serves a connected workflow; promote it only when an independent project is useful.
- Attach only durable inputs you want available in the new project, then mention narrow Brain parts in later turns.
- After pulling a Designer result back to Flowgen, rerun every dependent node and inspect its fresh output.
Limitations and important notes
- Promoted projects do not live-sync every edit to their source node.
- A project card may hide actions the current role cannot perform.
- Moving a project to Trash is recoverable; permanent deletion from Trash is not.
Troubleshooting
I cannot find a new Designer canvas under the legacy Designer filter.
New Designer-mode canvases are Flowgen projects. Find them under Flowgen; the legacy Designer filter is for older standalone records.
I need the connected node graph.
Switch the same canvas to Flow presentation. This changes the view, not the project or its connected sources.
