Describe the website on the Dashboard, continue into Flowgen, and open its Website Editor node for direct f0 editing. A standalone Website project is an optional secondary path.
Where: Dashboard → “What would you like to make?” → Flowgen → Website Editor node.
Key ideas
- Website creation starts in Flowgen: Use the guided Dashboard prompt or a new Flowgen canvas. Chat with Build with AI, choose a matching visual start, or browse Marketplace; the website editor remains a connected stage of the flow.
- Standalone Website is optional: The New Project chevron → Website → Blank website creates a separate project with its own Dashboard card when you deliberately need one.
- Focus and Studio are editing views: Focus reduces chrome around the page and contextual controls. Studio exposes the complete navigation and production panels. Neither changes the project into another type.
- Preview and publishing are separate: Preview creates a reviewable staging experience; production publishing and custom-domain setup are deliberate, separate delivery actions.
Steps
- On the Dashboard, describe the site under “What would you like to make?” and continue into Flowgen. On a new empty canvas, Build with AI, a visual start, or Start from a flow in Marketplace can also begin the website work.
- Open or add the Flowgen Website Editor node. Confirm the intended page, connected source inputs, project name, and save status before making edits in its f0 editor.
- If an independent website project is required, use the Dashboard New Project chevron → Website → Blank website instead. That creates a separate Dashboard project rather than a node in the current flow.
- Choose Focus for a quieter, canvas-led first pass or Studio when you want the full Pages, Layers, Insert, Assets, and Design System controls. The project/account view preference can be changed later.
- Select an existing element and make one small content or style edit. Use Pages or Layers when the element is difficult to select directly; verify the selected element before changing layout or responsive properties.
- Use Insert to add a section or element when needed. Prefer the existing project design system, components, and patterns so new content follows the site’s established styles.
- Check the page at the target desktop and mobile widths. A viewport preview is a test size; create an explicit breakpoint only when the design needs a distinct responsive rule.
- Open Preview and test links, buttons, forms, and layout as a visitor. Exit Preview/Interact to return to editing.
- Check that edits are saved, make a named backup before a risky structural change, then share a staging preview for review. Publish to a live destination only when the domain, content, and final review are ready.
Where the website lives
- Normal start: a Website Editor node in Flowgen, connected to the brief, references, and downstream outputs.
- Secondary direct start: Dashboard New Project chevron → Website → Blank website, with its own Dashboard card and lifecycle.
- Both routes use f0 editing controls; the node-backed route also requires checking upstream connections and rerunning dependent outputs after edits.
Safe first-pass checklist
- Confirm the Flowgen Website Editor node or standalone Website project you intend to change.
- Confirm the current page and selected layer before editing.
- Use reusable styles/components before one-off overrides.
- Test at meaningful widths and in Preview, not only on the editor canvas.
- Keep preview, export, sharing, and production publishing as distinct decisions.
Tips
- Make one small change first, preview it, and then continue; it quickly confirms that you are editing the intended project and page.
- If the full editor panels are not visible, check Focus/Studio and the current project-level view override before assuming a feature is missing.
Limitations and important notes
- A blank project does not supply site copy, images, legal content, or a production domain.
- Preview is not the production site and may not include every external integration or server-side behavior.
- Publishing can make work publicly accessible; review the destination and permissions before using it.
Troubleshooting
The Dashboard opened Flowgen instead of a standalone Website.
That is the normal guided path. Open its Website Editor node for the site; use the New Project chevron → Website → Blank website only when you need an independent project.
I cannot find the Pages or Insert controls.
Switch from Focus to Studio, expand the left workspace rail, and check the active page/project type.
The staging preview looks different from the editor.
Test the published page in Preview at the same viewport width, check responsive breakpoints and loaded assets, and confirm that the latest edits have saved.
