Copy keyframes through the system clipboard and apply searchable motion presets at clip edges or the playhead.
Where: Timeline → select keyframes → context menu or copy/paste shortcut; Timeline → Motion presets.
Key ideas
- The system clipboard is authoritative: Keyframes now use the operating-system clipboard instead of a private timeline-only memory. Copying an image or text elsewhere replaces that clipboard content, so a later paste does not unexpectedly replay an older keyframe copy.
- One shared motion library: Focus, Studio, and animation insertion draw from the shared preset library. Search, category, and intensity filtering help choose a motion instead of maintaining different lists for each timeline surface.
- Timing anchor matters: Clip edge uses the preset’s category-appropriate placement, such as entrance near the in-point. Playhead starts the applied motion at the current playhead in the target layer’s local time, bounded by its trim.
Steps
- Select the exact keyframes you want to reuse, copy them using the timeline context menu or platform shortcut, and select the intended target layer.
- Place the playhead as needed and paste. Inspect the destination tracks and values before continuing, especially across documents or layer types.
- For a preset, open Motion presets and search by name, category, or intensity. Preview the candidate before applying it.
- Choose Clip edge or Playhead and adjust the duration when the default does not fit the clip.
- Apply to the selected eligible layers, then inspect the generated keyframes and text/stagger settings rather than assuming every target can support every preset.
- Scrub the clip in both directions and play from the beginning to check in/out timing and the first frame.
Preset controls
- Search and category filters cover entrance, exit, emphasis, loop, reveal, text, camera, and easing-oriented recipes in the shared library.
- Duration can use the preset default or a chosen value.
- Text recipes may establish splitting and stagger; check the target’s text structure and the resulting layer settings.
- Playhead placement respects layer start offset and trim bounds rather than writing arbitrary global timestamps.
Recent timeline corrections
Negative keyframe times no longer tear a layer apart, and a synchronous timeline build renders once so a set at time zero is applied immediately. Imported frame sequences also receive playback-ready configuration. Still verify the first visible frame after pasting or applying motion, particularly in nested compositions.
Troubleshooting
Paste inserts something other than keyframes.
Check what you copied most recently in any application. Copy the keyframes again; the timeline no longer overrides a newer system clipboard item.
A playhead preset has no room to finish.
Move the playhead earlier, extend the layer trim, or reduce the duration, then inspect the bounded keyframes.
