Analyze a project video from Assets, choose Deep Analyze, Auto Detect, By Shots, By Sound, or By Speech, inspect the saved result, and use its verified timecodes for scene picking, reframing, or AI-assisted editing.

Key ideas
- The split mode answers a different question: By Shots follows camera cuts and transitions; By Sound follows beats, silence, and audio changes; By Speech follows sentence and narration boundaries; Auto Detect chooses a general path.
- Deep Analyze adds editorial evidence: Deep Analyze requests verified timecodes, subjects, dead parts, scene framing, transcript, and the visual context used by cut-from-source and aspect-aware edits.
- Remote and local-link videos behave differently: Uploaded/cloud video analysis is persisted beside the asset and reused when mode and depth match. A local-link video extracts and uploads temporary audio for timestamped speech analysis, and its result currently stays in memory.
- Analysis does not edit the timeline by itself: The result becomes evidence for View Analysis, Scene Picker, or an AI source-edit request. You still choose which ranges enter the composition.
Steps
- Open Assets and locate the source video. Use a project copy when the original contains private or irrelevant footage.
- Right-click the video and open Analyze Video. If a completed analysis exists, the command is named Re-analyze Video.
- Choose Deep Analyze for verified timecodes, subjects, and dead parts; choose Auto Detect, By Shots, By Sound, or By Speech for a narrower pass.
- Wait until the analyzing state completes. Do not rename, replace, or disconnect a local-link source during the pass.
- Choose View Analysis to inspect the summary, transcript, scenes, boundaries, and available framing information before editing.
- Choose Scene Picker when you want to select useful analyzed ranges directly, or attach the asset and ask the video AI to cut from the source.
- Review every chosen in/out point on the master timeline. Confirm speech starts, action finishes, subject framing, silence, and transitions at the delivery aspect ratio.
- Re-analyze only when the source changed or another split mode is needed; an identical completed mode/depth can reuse its cached result.

Persistence and reuse
- Cloud asset results are stored as an analysis sidecar and survive refresh.
- A matching completed mode/depth is returned without a duplicate pass.
- Local-link analysis uploads temporary extracted audio rather than the whole local video, but its analysis is not yet persisted to asset metadata.
What downstream tools can use
- Scene boundaries and verified timecodes for trims
- Transcript segments for dialogue-led cuts
- Subject position/framing for aspect changes
- Dead-part and silence evidence for editorial cleanup
- Summary, mood, colors, and typography when the selected analysis depth provides them
Tips
- Use By Speech for interviews and calls; use By Shots for edited footage; use Deep Analyze before a large source-edit request.
- Keep the analysis as a proposal and review the actual frame before and after every automated cut.
Limitations and important notes
- Local-link analysis is currently speech-oriented and in-memory; upload the video when durable full visual analysis is required.
- Analysis quality depends on the source media and selected mode. It cannot guarantee a good story edit or identify every sensitive moment.
- Re-analysis replaces the active result for that asset; capture important editorial decisions in the timeline or notes first.
Troubleshooting
The analysis is missing after refresh
Check whether the asset is a local link. Local-link transcription currently stays in memory; upload the source and analyze the uploaded asset for a persisted sidecar.
The cuts follow speech but miss visual changes
Re-analyze with By Shots or Deep Analyze, then reopen View Analysis or Scene Picker.
The menu stays on Analyzing
Confirm the source is still reachable. For a local link, relink the file if it is offline; for a cloud asset, retry and inspect the surfaced failure message.
