Understand editor save status

Know whether your document is saved, saving, queued offline, or failed before closing or restoring work.

Where: Editor top bar → save status indicator

Key ideas

• Durability state: The indicator distinguishes local edits from a completed durable checkpoint instead of showing every edit as saved.
• Offline/failure visibility: Queued/offline and failed writes remain visible so the user does not close the editor under a false saved state.
• Collaboration-aware restore: A restore temporarily holds collaborators while the snapshot replaces the document, avoiding concurrent edits into the landing checkpoint.

Steps

1. Watch the indicator after editing.
2. Wait for Saved before closing or beginning a restore.
3. If queued/offline, keep the editor open until connectivity returns.
4. If failed, retry/resolve the reported storage or connection issue before leaving.
