Key ideas
- Generation and reference editing: Grok Imagine 2 is an image route. A prompt creates an image; a connected reference image supplies visual context for an edit. It is not a language-model picker choice and does not render video.
- Quality is a separate route: The Standard ID is grok-imagine-image-2 and the Quality ID is grok-imagine-image-2-quality. Both expose 1K and 2K output choices, but their prices differ. The model catalog keeps those explicit resolution tiers visible.
- Only supported sizes are choices: Legacy fallback price keys are not additional UI capabilities. Use 1K or 2K for these Grok routes; do not infer a 4K option from another image model or a manually edited payload.
Steps
- Add or select Create Image, then choose Grok Imagine 2 in the model controls.
- Choose Standard or Quality according to the desired result and visible quote; confirm the exact variant after switching models.
- Set 1K or 2K and an available aspect ratio. For an edit, connect the reference image and describe which visual details must change and which must remain.
- Generate one representative result, inspect it at useful zoom, and compare the result to the reference before requesting a batch.
- Use the version grid to compare takes. Extract a chosen result to a separate image input if another branch needs a fixed copy while this generator continues changing.
Per-image price reference
- Standard: 3 Sparks at 1K and 5 Sparks at 2K.
- Quality: 5 Sparks at 1K and 6 Sparks at 2K.
- Output count multiplies per-image work; each additional run is separate.
- GPT Image 2 is unrelated: its supported sizes now remain flat-priced at 20 Sparks for generation and 22 Sparks for its edit route. Do not apply Grok’s size tiers to GPT Image 2.
Tips
- Compare Standard and Quality using the same brief and source image so the comparison tests the variant rather than a changed prompt.
- Inspect small text, edge detail, and the subject’s identity in the generated image; a successful request is not a quality check.
Troubleshooting
The picker no longer offers a previously entered size.
Choose a supported 1K/2K size. Old generic catalog keys were pricing fallbacks, not evidence that the provider accepted that resolution.
The node generates a new scene instead of preserving the reference.
Verify the image is connected to the actual reference input and explicitly state the parts to preserve. For deterministic cropping or resizing, use the local image operation nodes instead.
