Understand the legacy Lite Editor node’s child-project lifecycle, Website/Video mode, typed source injection, compact editing surface, and HTML/CSS/bundle outputs.
Where: Existing Flowgen canvas → select Lite Editor node → Edit; external MCP hosts can create type liteEditor on the open Flowgen canvas.
Before you start
- Lite Editor is not in the current Add menu. Use it for existing canvases and compatibility; choose Website Editor or native Video Editor for new editor-backed workflows.
Key ideas
- Lite Editor is a child project, not a lightweight text field: It owns a hidden child f0 project and opens that child in the embedded Lite editor. The child is created on first Edit; projectType simple means Website and video means Video. The choice locks after creation.
- Inputs populate the child library: It accepts the same typed source families as Project: image, video, audio, HTML, PDF, 3D model, HDRI, Design System, CSS, bundle, and motion. Connected media is injected into the child library as assets.
- Lite exposes a narrower output contract: html_out and css_out are flattened document outputs and bundle_out preserves re-editable content. It does not expose Project’s image_out preview or pages_out multi-page dataset.
- The host graph remains separate from the embedded document: The Lite Editor surface edits the child artifact; connected Flowgen nodes supply inputs and consume outputs. Its save/close lifecycle is distinct from a standalone Dashboard project.
Steps
- Select the existing Lite Editor node. Confirm the title, status, selected Website/Video mode, and connected input sources.
- Set simple or video before the hidden child project is created; after childProjectId exists, keep that mode unchanged.
- Connect compatible sources to image_in, video_in, audio_in, html_in, pdf_in, model_in, hdri_in, design_system_in, css_in, bundle_in, or motion_in.
- Choose Edit to create/open the embedded Lite editor. Wait for readiness, inspect injected child-library assets, and edit the document.
- Save and close from the editor surface; on return, confirm the node captured its HTML/CSS and editable bundle.
- Connect html_out/css_out to the next compatible processing step. Use bundle_out when a downstream editor should continue editing the document rather than receive flattened output.
- For MCP, use create_node type liteEditor only in the intended open Flowgen graph; call get_node_sockets and verify readiness before editing.
Typed input sockets
- Images (image_in, up to 64), Video (video_in, up to 32), Audio (audio_in, up to 32), HTML / Interactive (html_in, up to 32), PDF (pdf_in, up to 16).
- 3D Model (model_in, up to 16), HDRI (hdri_in, up to 8), Design System (design_system_in), CSS (css_in, up to 8), editable bundle (bundle_in), and motion (motion_in).
- The current get_node_sockets response is authoritative for exact socket types and limits.
Lite versus Project and Website Editor
- Project also emits an image preview and a whole-pages dataset; Lite emits only HTML, CSS, and the editable bundle.
- Website Editor is the current visual multi-page Website node for new flows; Lite Editor remains a compatibility/API path for existing graphs.
- Neither create_node nor Lite Editor creates a standalone Dashboard project.
Tips
- Choose bundle_out when you want another editor stage to preserve editability; use html_out/css_out for export or code-processing steps.
- If you need all pages or a screenshot output, use the Project node contract or migrate to the current Website Editor surface.
Limitations and important notes
- Not listed in the current visual Add menu; the MCP create_node enum retains it for compatibility.
- Mode is locked after the child project is created.
- A card without saved editor content does not yet have a meaningful downstream document output.
Troubleshooting
The Lite Editor opens with missing assets.
Check each typed source input and the node’s injection status. Some inputs are copied into the child library rather than kept as live values.
I expected a thumbnail or page list output.
Lite Editor exposes html_out, css_out, and bundle_out only. Use Project for image_out/pages_out, or choose a current node designed for the output you need.
The node does not appear in Add.
That is expected: Lite Editor is a legacy/API-compatible node. Maintain the existing canvas or use the current Website Editor/Video Editor node for new work.
