A timeline layer doesn’t have to animate just itself. Each layer can target its children, all descendants, or text units (characters / words / lines), with a stagger so the targets animate one after another — the easy way to build text reveals and list cascades.
Where: Studio timeline → expand a layer → Targets — Open a layer’s targets row
Key ideas
- Targets: Self, Children, Descendants, or Text·chars / Text·words / Text·lines.
- Stagger: A per-target delay (ms) fans the animation out across the targets.
- Text reveals: Pick Text·chars/words/lines + a stagger to animate a heading in piece by piece.
Steps
- Expand the layer in the Studio timeline.
- Open its Targets row and pick what to animate (self/children/descendants/text).
- Set a stagger delay to sequence them.
- Keyframe the property as usual — it now applies across the targets.
