Use a pass-through node when a multi-output source needs an explicit output selection; the incoming source-chip choice determines what continues downstream.
Where: Flowgen → Add → Routing & Layout → Extract Output.
Before you start
- Use a source node with multiple outputs, or one whose output should be chosen explicitly instead of relying on automatic routing.
Key ideas
- The node is a wire selector, not an operation: Extract Output stores no value, performs no generation, and has no Run action. It passes through the output named by the incoming edge’s sourceHandle.
- Choose the output at the source chip: The right-click output menu on the connected source chip changes which of that source’s outputs is routed through the extractor. The extractor displays whether it is wired and what to do next.
- Type is preserved: The selected output’s data type flows through to Extracted, so downstream connections still need a compatible input.
- Extract Output card: OutputPickerNode uses the authored shared-card path. Select and pass through one explicitly chosen output from a multi-output source without adding a transformation step.
- Properties sidebar: No dedicated inspector; wire and right-click the source chip
- Opened surfaces: Source chip output menu
Steps
- Add Extract Output between the multi-output source and the intended consumer.
- Connect the desired source output to the extractor’s Value input.
- Right-click the source chip and choose the specific source output to pass through. This selection is carried by the wire; there is no second selector on the extractor card.
- Connect Extracted to the downstream field that expects the selected output type.
- Reopen the source-chip output menu if you need a different output. The extractor itself does not run or create a copy.
What appears on the card
- A Value input and Extracted output socket.
- An unwired hint: connect a source to Value, then right-click its chip to choose an output.
- A wired hint: passes the selected output through; right-click the chip to choose a different one.
- No run button, model picker, editor, or stored result.
When to use it
- Use this node when automatic routing picks the wrong output from a node that offers several values of the same kind.
- Use one explicit extractor per chosen output when several consumers need different outputs from the same source.
- For changing/combining values, use a transform node instead; Extract Output only selects and forwards.
Extract Output controls and presets
- Add path: Flowgen → Add → Routing & Layout → Extract Output.
- Card: OutputPickerNode.
- Properties: No dedicated inspector; wire and right-click the source chip.
- Controls: Value input; right-click source chip; choose output; Extracted output.
- Opened surfaces: Source chip output menu.
Tips
- Rename the node to indicate the selected value (for example, “Final image” or “Transcript”) when the graph contains several extractors.
- Check the source chip menu—not the extractor body—when the wrong value is flowing.
Limitations and important notes
- It does not transform, copy, generate, or persist output data.
- The chosen source handle is part of the connection; deleting/replacing the source wire may require selecting the output again.
Troubleshooting
The card says it is waiting for input.
Connect a source to Value and confirm the incoming wire targets the extractor input.
The wrong value reaches the next node.
Right-click the source chip on the incoming connection and select the intended output.
The next node rejects the output.
Confirm the chosen source output type matches the downstream field type; this node preserves rather than converts types.
